Britney ‘would consider’ Meghan-style interview if dad removed as conservator
Britney Spears has toyed with the idea of doing a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey surrounding her conservatorship, insiders say.
The pop princess, 39, ‘would consider’ sitting down with the talk show legend in a bid to shed some light and insight into her life and career – which is predominantly controlled by her father, Jamie Spears.
After Oprah’s bombshell chat with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle about the Royal family last month, the Toxic hitmaker has reportedly set her sights on a sit-down talk with the TV star.
Britney’s attorney filed a petition this week to have the singer’s care manager, Jodi Montgomery, replace the pop star’s father as the permanent conservator over all of her personal matters.
If the judge agrees to the plea at her hearing next month, Britney could begin to have the freedom to perform again and would be interested in doing a tell-all interview with Oprah after much demand from fans.
An insider told Page Six : “If Jodi becomes her conservator things would drastically change for Britney — she’s not working because of her dad.
“She has said that as long as a dad is in control of her life, she’s not working. Britney trusts Jodi Montgomery — she’s really great. Things would drastically change for the better.”
As for the Harry and Meghan-style interview, the source revealed: “If she decided she wanted to do it, yes, but it definitely wouldn’t do it in the current status quo. As long as her dad is part of it, she’s not working.
“She hasn’t talked to her dad in over a year.”
Britney’s father remains the co-conservator over her estate and assets.
He has been in control of her life and finances since her public breakdown in 2008.
Jamie previously slammed supporters of the #FreeBritney movement after furious fans claimed that the singer’s dad was taking advantage of her fame and fortune for his own benefit.
