We tell you which is the job with the highest risk of contagion of covid-19 (and where the majority are Latino workers) | The State

A new study from the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) has analyzed which jobs are most at risk during the coronavirus pandemic in California.

According to UCSF data, statewide, restaurant cooks have the highest risk of a covid-19-related death, outperforming machine and packaging operators, and construction workers.

Of the five job categories with the highest risk of mortality, three are related to food: cooks, farm workers and bakers, and chefs and waiters are also on the highest risk list, as reported in Eater.

Also, throughout the state of California, Latinos are in more than half of all food-related jobs, and in 80% of all agricultural jobs. Also, according to the study, African-American and Latino residents are far more likely to contract (and die) COVID-19 than white people in California.
