Tom Cruise 'buys two Covid-secure robots to patrol Mission Impossible set'
Tom Cruise is determined that filming of Mission: Impossible 7 is not disrupted any further by coronavirus after several delays in the past 12 months.
The 58-year-old Hollywood actor has reportedly invested two robots that can administer Covid tests on crew members and can ‘patrol’ the set during filming.
Tom has had a difficult time filming the latest in the Mission: Impossible franchise and had a public outburst against staff on set who were not taking Covid restrictions seriously enough.
He called them out for not social distancing following delays after filming was shut down for weeks when a number of crew members tested positive for the virus.
The actor has now splashed the cash to ensure this doesn’t happen again and to make the set secure from coronavirus.
A source on set told The Sun that “shooting will resume in the UK later this week.”
The source added that the crew will then move to Dubai for the next part of filming.
The source said: “Tom is so serious about making sure the shoot isn’t shut down that he’s splashed out on these robots as he can’t be everywhere to ensure people are behaving themselves.”
Despite the ferocity of his rant last month, it would seem that a lot of his fans have sympathy for the actor, when he is following protocols but some on set are not.
The source added: “He gets paid a lot for these films but he also knows that he is lucky to be working and staff on the film from top to bottom rely on this film going ahead.
“You don’t have to go far to see how just how much the pandemic has affected jobs.”
Filming has been continuing at Warner Bros Studios in Leavesden, Hertfordshire and it was reported last month that Tom warned staff about flaunting Covid restrictions, telling them: “If I see you do it again, you’re f***ing gone.”
