Kate Ferdinand says sharing candid pic helped her cope as Rio goes back to work
Kate Ferdinand has admitted sharing a candid picture of her bruised body after giving birth helped her cope during her first few weeks as a new mum.
The former Towie star has returned to Instagram days after she uploaded a snap of her post-baby body, showing her in her underwear holding newborn son Cree.
Kate, 29, confessed she’s spent much of the new year in her pyjamas and revealed she still hadn’t got dressed as her husband Rio headed off back to work.
She also explained how she’s been inundated with messages of support since sharing her previous post – and thanked fans for their words of encouragement.
Sharing a snap of her dog Ronnie on her bed, Kate, who gave birth to son Cree days before Christmas, wished her followers a happy new year.
She wrote: “Good morning everyone.
“Happy 2021. I hope you all had a fabulous new year. Daddy has gone to work so Ronnie has snuck in the bed.
“2021 update so far. Showering and fresh pjs are still happening. Haven’t made it into clothes yet…
“Hoping at some stage in 2021 I will get dressed.”
She added: “I was overwhelmed by all of your comments on my most recent picture. Sometimes social media can be such a negative place but since sharing this post it has been so positive for me.
“I was nervous about sharing my reality but so glad I did. So many of you have had similar experiences and share the same feelings and emotions…
“It’s nice to know we are not alone. Thank you for all your comments. I have read them all.”
The former TOWIE star revealed when she shared the snap of her with Cree, she had undergone an emergency C-section that left her completely “overwhelmed and wiped out.”
Kate spoke of the tears she’s cried at being unable to “change or feed her son consistently” after his dramatic arrival, which she said has left her wracked with guilt.
Kate began by reflecting on her blessings, saying: “What a bubble this is.
“We are so obsessed with our little angel Cree. I just seem to stare at him for hours on end. Seeing the kids and him is literally what dreams are made of, feeling completely overwhelmed.”
Although this is her first child, Kate has been a step-mother to husband Rio’s three children Lorenz, 14, Tate, 12, and Tia, nine since the pair tied the knot in 2019.
