The Delhi government has once again opened the treasury for education. The Government has allocated an amount of Rs 15,815 crore for education in the budget of 2020-21, which is the highest 24.33 per cent of the total budget, to take the world stage from Model of Education Governance. In order to make it to the world stage, the government has decided to join the Pisa Test to be held in the year 2024.
The Delhi government also plans to change the curriculum to create a separate state board for Delhi. 62 crore has been proposed in the budget for this. In the coming financial year, the emphasis of the government will also be on making classes efficient in the digital field, training of children in other foreign languages including English, skill development, setting up 17 new schools and single shift of 90 schools. The government has made a provision of Rs 15 crore in the budget to start Delhi Skill and Internship University.
There will be separate board to improve the quality of education
Finance Minister Manish Sisodia announced that Delhi would have its own state board to improve the quality of education. The aim of this will be to establish such an education system in which children can get education by understanding the number instead of rote numbers. This will also enable him to prepare for a possible competition. Along with this, changes in the curriculum will also have to be started. He said that this year the child who is in nursery will be out of school in the year 2034. The world will change by then. For this, the child will have to prepare from now. An expert committee is being formed to change the curriculum. This committee will study various courses in the country and abroad and prepare a new curriculum.
Delhi government will join international test Pisa
The Delhi government has also decided to join the international level Pisa in 2024. This exam takes place every three years. This examination shows that the level of education received by a child of 15 years of age in a country or a state meets international standards and requirements. He said that we will put Delhi on the educational map of the world by 2024, taking forward five years of work.
Children will study in Hitech Digital Class Room
The government plans to make each of the classes from ninth to twelfth to be hi-tech in the next five years. Classes will be made digital for this. For this, a provision of Rs 100 crore has been made in the budget. This work will start from this year. At least ten classrooms will be digitized in every school. There is also a plan to connect all schools and district headquarters with the Directorate of Education through video conferencing.
Health card to students, 22 crore in the budget
The Finance Minister has announced in the budget that the school health scheme will be started from next year. Students will be given an identity card with health details. For this, 22 crore rupees have been proposed in the budget.
17 new schools to be built in Delhi
The Delhi government has proposed to build 17 new schools in the budget for the financial year 2020-21. These will be built at a cost of Rs 175 crore. With this, 90 schools are proposed to be done in single shift. Children in General Shift will be imparted training in English, as well as French, Japanese, Spanish, and German in the post-holiday time. Twenty thousand new classrooms will also be built. Along with this, there will now be PTM as well as pareting workshops in schools.
Special in education
- A new law will be enacted to ensure early childhood quality education.
- Five-five schools of excellence will be opened in each zone.
- Emphasis on starting admission by establishing Delhi Sports University and Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University.
- Emphasis on starting construction of Ambedkar University campuses in Dhirpur and Rohini.
- Construction of additional building at NSUT and new campus of Indira Gandhi Delhi Women’s Technical University at Narela will be started in this session.
- Construction of integrated campus of GB Pant Government Engineering College and GB Pant Technology Institute will start soon. The capacity will be 3000 students.
- The installation of CCTV in all classrooms of all schools will have to be completed by June 2020.
- To develop interest in children to read newspapers, a scheme will be given to all children from next year.
- English speaking skills of children will continue to develop.
- The government is bringing a new patriotic curriculum.
