HUL appointed Tarun Bajaj as Independent Director
Bajaj is a former Revenue Secretary of the Government of India, economic decisions are big tasks during the time of GST and Corona.
Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has appointed Tarun Bajaj as the independent director of the company. He will hold this post for the next 5 years from December 1, 2023. Bajaj is 61 years old and is a 1988 batch IAS officer of Haryana cadre. He was the Revenue Secretary in the Government of India when he retired in November 2022.
Tarun Bajaj has made a major contribution in implementing GST in India and increasing tax collection under it, upgrading technology for direct and indirect taxes collection and increasing transparency and efficiency in tax collection.

On being appointed as the Independent Director of HAL, Tarun Bajaj said, ‘The success of the company with the changing India shows that it has continuously reinvented itself. I am honored to join the HUL Board and am very much looking forward to my responsibilities as an Independent Director.

Bajaj’s big works
Contribution in preparing economic package during Covid: While being the Secretary of Economic Affairs, he played an important role in preparing the economic response of the government during Covid-19. This includes financial assistance and other relief measures given by the government.
Bajaj has held senior positions in RBI and SEBI: Apart from working in economic governance, Bajaj has also served as Chairman of the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund and Director of the Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India, besides being a Board Member of the Security and Exchange Board of India.
