KJ Apa announces he is expecting his first child with girlfriend Clara Berry

KJ Apa is expecting his first child with girlfriend Clara Berry.

The Riverdale actor, 23, announced her pregnancy on his Instagram account on Wednesday, where he posted a photo of the French model relaxing on the couch with her baby bump on display.

Clara, 27, shared even more photos of her growing midsection to her own account, where she posed by a skyline with her bare bump on show.

The photos included a snap of Clara lounging on their couch with her pooch and another of her cradling her growing bump.

She captioned the slideshow with a face and sunny side egg emoji.

The announcement comes just days after KJ admitted he would quit his acting career in order to start a family.

In an interview with Australian Men’s Health, the actor said the fruits of his success would mean nothing if he did not have a family to share it with.

‘I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life, other than the fact that I want to be a father,’ he told the magazine. ‘It’s a lonely place, this industry. Human interactions are no longer the same for me. I’m searching. I’m searching for genuine relationships with people who genuinely care about me and who I care about, not because of who I am or who they are.’ 

‘I don’t want to be lonely for the rest of my life,’ he added. ‘I’m looking around me at people doing what I’m doing, putting everything into their careers and into fame and into themselves. 

‘I’m guilty of the same thing but I look around and I’m like, “Wait, what’s the point of all this if you can’t share it with anyone other than yourself and your friends?” It becomes meaningless. I’d be willing to drop acting and all of this if I had a beautiful family. If I had to do it, I would do it.’ 

KJ went public with their romance in February 2020 when he posted a loved-up snap of himself with Clara.

The photo was captioned ‘Coup de foudre,’ which means ‘Love at first sight.’

In December, the New Zealand-born star penned a heartfelt birthday tribute to the brunette beauty.

‘Happy birthday my love,’ he captioned, while sharing a photo of himself and Clara to Instagram. 

Prior to his relationship with Clara, KJ was not in a hurry to find love.  

‘The thing is, I don’t think it matters whether you’re looking for a relationship or not —it’s not for us to decide when we meet the love of our lives,’ he previously told Seventeen.
