A Welsh man has been jailed for 19 weeks for repeatedly calling the police to complain about Ant McPartlin returning to TV after his drunken car crash.
David Kates-Lowick, 57, from Welshpool, Wales, pleaded guilty to breaching a criminal behaviour order for making four non-emergency calls in three days to Dyfed Powys police.
He had previously been handed a 10-week suspended sentence, which is to run consecutively with nine weeks imposed by court chairman David Subacchi at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
It gives him a 19-week sentence all together.
According to Countytimes.co.uk, prosecutor James Neary told the court Kates-Lowick was frustrated that Britain’s Got Talent star Ant was able to continue his career in the spotlight after being convicted of drink-driving in 2018.
The court heard Kates-Lowick was an alcoholic and under the influence of prescription drugs when he made the calls.
His defence, Owain Jones, told the court his client is also likely to have suffered mental health issues.
He told the court: “He’s called 101, not an emergency line, and hasn’t used foul language…
“The contents of the calls suggest he’s also significant mental health issues as well.
“It’s perhaps a plea for help.”

Ant was arrested and later convicted of drink-driving following a car crash in west London in March 2018.
He pleaded guilty to the charge and was banned from driving for 20 months, and fined £86,000 – then the highest financial penalty ever awarded for a drink-driving case in the UK.
The telly favourite took a year off to focus on his recovery, bowing out of shows including Saturday Night Takeaway, Britain’s Got Talent and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.
Ant returned to TV last year and has resumed his usual hosting roles alongside his longtime telly partner Declan Donnelly.
