The United States Attorney will present as evidence against Genaro Garcia Luna at least 17 calls between the former official and senior officials of the Sinaloa cartelrevealed the Mexican weekly Riodoce.

And it is that according to a two-page motion presented by the prosecutor Richard P. Donoghue and to which Riódoce had access, 17 telephone calls are detailed between the former Mexican official with senior officials of the Sinaloa cartel, once led by Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.

Garcia Luna, former secretary of Federal Public Safety, in the government of the Mexican president Felipe Calderon will appear next October 7 in a federal court of the Eastern District of New York, where he faces conspiracy charges, drug trafficking and false statements for having abused his public office to favor the Sinaloa cartel.
