Cadillac launches a new mode of opening the car via facial recognition | The NY Journal


Cadillac is always looking to integrate the most cutting-edge technologies into its cars for the convenience of its customers, which is why it recently made an update on the Cadillac XT4 adding a functionality of facial recognition to open and start the truck.

This new vehicle opening mode is named by Cadillac as “Face ID”, And it works in the same way as smartphones do today. Cadillac’s facial recognition is described as “the ultimate keyless experience,” and it works seamlessly day and night.

According to information from MSN Autos, “Face ID” works in external weather conditions, so the owner can be sure that his car will recognize it under any circumstances.

Facial recognition technology Cadillac is possible thanks to a dual camera that uses technology from infrared imageas well as an adaptive flashing light. When the user approaches the Cadillac XT4, a touch screen placed on a pillar of the truck.

This screen will be connected to the facial recognition system of the driver’s smartphone, through a connection Bluetooth. Once the connection is established, the phone’s camera will do the corresponding scan of the face, to send the signal to the car that the door can be opened and the engine started without using a key.

This new Cadillac XT4 feature also has fingerprint and password unlock options that can be changed according to user preferences. In case the van is used by more than one driver, the system admits one administrator and seven more users.

At the moment, Cadillac’s “Face ID” technology will only be incorporated in China at a price of around $ 1,480.
