Inside Bake Off’s insanely lavish hotel where contestants isolated

The Great British Bake Off makes its much-awaited return this evening.

Fans breathed a collective sigh of relief when Channel 4 bosses announced they’d found a way to film the show for 2020.

And new host Matt Lucas won’t be the only fresh element, as the venue has been switched up too to make filming more Covid-secure.

With a new roster of hopefuls taking to the tent, Matt will make his debut with co-host Noel Fielding, judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith making their return.

After the Covid disruption threw all telly’s most popular shows into question, Channel 4 shifted Bake Off from its usual Berkshire spot to the eye-wateringly luxurious Down Hall Hotel near Essex’s Bishop’s Stortford.

Bake Off is back!

The broadcaster told BerkshireLive : “It has been well documented that the series was filmed in a Covid-secure bubble this year, and the venue allowed for that.”

The Down Hall Hotel site shows what sort of the luxury the 12 new contestants would have got used to ahead of the show’s filming.

Boasting sprawling grounds, where Bake Off will be filmed, the 110-acre estate writes that its “98 bedrooms are all individually designed to reflect the grandeur, elegance, and character of this historic property.”

The hotel is seriously fancy

Guests can wander the 110-acre estate

Some rooms even boast views of the venue’s landscaped gardens, while guests can pick up maps of picturesque walking routes in the area.

It also offers picnics during the summer, so guests can seek out some privacy in the great outdoors while dining like kings.

State-of-the-art treatment rooms in the spa offer an array of facials, massages, body treatments and more.

The rooms boast major luxury

Huge bathrooms have everything guests could need

The rooms themselves are decorated with a tasteful blend of modern and classical styles.

The Master Suite even has a bath and sofa located at the foot of the bed, and can have food delivered to the door with the hotel’s 24-hour room service.

The bathrooms are mainly of clean-cut granite, giving them a smart but relaxed vibe.
