Britain’s Got Talent row as dancing duo ‘saw red’ after their routine flopped

The claws came out on Britain’s Got Talent in a row between a contestant and judges while recording next week’s semi-final.

Disney-loving due Joe and Katherine O’Malley, who auditioned dressed as Sebastian the crab and Ariel from The Little Mermaid, were upset after their latest performance flopped.

Producers radioed security as tap dancer Joe looked set to blow his top, with a source joking: “The lobster saw red.”

In the audition stages, Joe had danced in his Sebastian outfit with his face painted red while Katherine sang.

Simon Cowell buzzed to send the pair home but they made it through anyway. While recording for the semi – with Joe this time dressed as snowman character Olaf from Frozen – one of his tap shoes broke, which he felt hindered his performance.

BGT beat Strictly in the ratings war this weekend

The source said: “Joe felt the judges’ comments were unfair given the situation with his tap shoe.

“He wanted to go back on stage to have his say to the judges, and didn’t want to leave the studio, but obviously he wasn’t going to be allowed to go back and let rip.”

The insider added: “It had been a long day and emotions were running high. Security spoke to him and managed to diffuse the situation.”

It came as Britain’s Got Talent beat the return of Strictly Come Dancing in their ratings battle, when the shows went head to head on Saturday night.

BGT was seen by 4.5 million viewers while Strictly’s Best Of episode drew 3.3 million.
