Ed Woodward appears to drop Sancho transfer hint in Man Utd programme notes

Ed Woodward’s Manchester United programme notes suggest no more big-money signings will be coming through the door this month.
The Red Devils have signed just one player so far this summer transfer window in £35million midfielder Donny van de Beek from Ajax.
The club has been in pursuit of Jadon Sancho since before the window opened, but have been priced out of a deal for the forward.
Borussia Dortmund want £108m for their prized asset, and Man United consider this too steep in the current climate.
Fans have been holding out hope that the Red Devils would eventually stump up the cash, but Woodward’s comments ahead of United’s clash with Crystal Palace suggest this won’t be happening.

Woodward wrote: “Disruption from the pandemic is continuing to create huge economic pressure from the top to the bottom of the football pyramid and while we are fortunate to be in a more resilient position than most clubs, we are not immune from impact.”
United haven’t completely given up on signing Sancho, despite the fact they missed Dortmund’s self-imposed deadline to make the transfer happen.
The club is expected to go back in for the England international – who is contracted in Germany until 2023 – next summer to test Dortmund’s resolve once more.
Sancho is believed to want to return to the Premier League and United remain the favourites to sign him.
