Strictly Come Dancing stars could face daily coronavirus tests to protect show

Strictly Come Dancing stars could be expected to undergo coronavirus checks on almost a daily basis.

According to a television insider, BBC bosses are ramping up safety measures at the studios ahead of the return of the show later this year.

Not taking any chances with the safety of the cast and crew, this could mean the Strictly cohort could be carefully monitored, according to The Sun.

A Strictly source told the publication that a lot of money has been invested in order to keep everyone safe.

They also revealed that a back-up list of stars has been compiled in case anyone has to drop out because of the virus.

It comes after a staff member working on the show allegedly tested positive.

“Nothing is being left to chance after this positive test,” the source told the publication.

“A lot of money has been spent on ensuring everyone on the show has access to testing.

“If required, those taking part could even undergo daily checks to make sure they remain virus free.

The insider continued: “The key thing for producers is knowing that if a case emerges that they can react to it to make sure it doesn’t become a massive crisis.

“The nightmare scenario is a case going undetected and spreading through the entire show. That’s why more testing will be carried out.”

Just last week, television finally announced a stellar lineup of celebrities that are set to descend on the dance floor later this year.

Among the stars will be Jamie Laing, Maisie Smith and Nicola Adams – who will make history when she stars in the first same-sex couple in the competition.

There are lots of changes to this years show, that could reportedly be taking place without an audience.

The professional dancers are all currently isolating together, however the celebrity couples are yet to be announced.
