Real Madrid ‘to kick Bale out now’ after reporting back from Wales duty injured

Real Madrid have reportedly reached the end of their tether with Gareth Bale after he reported back from international duty with a knee injury.

Bale played for Wales in their Nations League wins over Finland and Bulgaria in the past week, in what was his first taste of football outside of just 100 minutes of action for Real since the return from lockdown.

The former Tottenham star played for the first 45 minutes of the 1-0 win over Finland in Helsinki last Thursday, before following that up with a full 90 minute appearance as Bulgaria were beaten by the same scoreline in Cardiff three days later.

Spanish publication Deportes Cuatro claim that Bale was back with Real on Wednesday, but he didn’t meet with Zinedine Zidane after reporting that he had picked up a knee issue.

Instead of training with teammates on the pitch he reported to the gym, where he worked alongside Marco Asensio, Isco, Mariano and Sergio Reguilon, all of whom are said to be carrying knocks.

The same report indicates that Real are now hoping to “kick out” Bale as they see the injury as another example of him having more of a commitment to Wales than he does to them.

Bale still has two years left on his contract at the Bernabeu, and while away with Wales he said the ball was in the club’s court when it came to allowing him to leave.

“I think the club needs to answer that question [about leaving] because I tried to leave last year and they blocked everything at the very last second,” he told Sky Sports.

“There have been other times where we tried to leave but the club did not allow it to happen.

“The club has control of everything. It is in their hands, but they make things very difficult to be honest. The decision is in the hands of Real Madrid.”
