Survey finds almost one in five small businesses do not believe they would survive a new lockdown

Almost one in five small businesses do not believe they would survive a new lockdown, a survey found. 

A poll of more than 500 small companies by insurance group Simply Business found 17 per cent believe they would have to stop trading in that scenario.

Many firms are now ‘living in fear’ of another lockdown, said Simply Business boss Alan Thomas. 

And even if restrictions are not introduced, business-owners are pessimistic about their prospects. 

A total of 62 per cent said they were less confident about their firm’s long-term outlook.
