Man Utd transfer roundup: Jadon Sancho alternative, Kane and Upamecano updates
[ad_1]
The signing of Donny van de Beek from Ajax has, temporarily at least, eased the pressure on Manchester United in the transfer window.
Determined efforts to sign number one target Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund have yet to pay off, but the arrival of van de Beek adds to the midfield options Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can choose from.
Nevertheless, other areas of the squad need strengthening as United aim to close the sizable gap created by Liverpool and Manchester City over the last few seasons.
And here is the latest transfer news involving the Red Devils.
Upamecano deadline set for next summer
Any Manchester United bid to sign Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig is expected to come next summer.
According to The Mail, the United hierarchy are prepared to wait until the 21-year-old’s £38million buyout clause becomes active in 2021.
Upamecano signed a new deal with Julian Naglesmann’s side earlier this summer with the clause catching the eye of many interested clubs.
And is expected United will lead the race to sign the centre-back when that comes into effect in less than 12 months time.
Sancho alternative eyed
Manchester United may launch a bid for Burnley ’s Dwight McNeil if they are unable to prise Sancho away from Borussia Dortmund.
According to Lancs Live, the Old Trafford outfit are interested in signing McNeil but only if they fail to land England international Sancho.
Former United academy prospect McNeil has been in fine form over the last two seasons and several reports have emerged of top-six clubs being interested in acquiring his services.
It is believed the winger would cost around £50million.

Bringing Harry Kane to Manchester United would make the club instant Premier League title contenders.
That is according to former United coach Rene Meulensteen, who believes the Red Devils should finally make a move for Kane – a player repeatedly linked with an Old Trafford switch.
He told talkSPORT: “Obviously, there was a big, big gap there last year.
“And I think the gap started sort of in the early part of the season… I think with maybe another good signing, I keep saying they should bring in a really top, top striker.
“I think, for instance, if you were able to get Kane – I don’t think they would be able to get him – but if they would get Kane, I would say yes, they will compete for the title next year.”
