Thiago confirms he’s “happy” at Bayern Munich in Liverpool transfer twist

Thiago Alcantara says he’s happy in his Bayern Munich “home” as Liverpool’s attempts to sign the Spanish midfielder continue to stall.
The 29-year-old has been widely expected to leave Bavaria this summer having now entered the final year of his contract.
The former Barcelona star was a key player in the Bayern side which won the Champions League in Lisbon, a victory which seemingly signalled a golden goodbye for Thiago following seven years at Bayern in which he’d won seven Bundesliga titles.
Bayern manager Hansi Flick and chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge have both gone on record to claim that Thiago will leave, although no bid has been forthcoming for him yet.
Although not outwardly confirming their desire to sign him this summer, Liverpool are said to have been monitoring the midfielder’s situation for some time.
Jurgen Klopp is known to be desperate to bring him to the Premier League champions, but his signing could hinge on some Anfield outgoings first.
The Reds have been attempting to offload both Marko Grujic and Harry Wilson after the duo impressed away on loan last season, but they have so far fallen short of the £20million they are attempting to get for both of them.
Gini Wijnaldum is also being strongly linked with Barcelona, although there is less desire at Anfield to offload the Dutchman.
Speaking about his future after Spain’s 1-1 draw with Germany in Stuttgart, Thiago told German outlet ZDF: “I only think about the game against Ukraine. Afterwards, we will see.
“Bayern is my home and I am happy to be there.”
Although not an outward statement of his desire to stay, the comments could persuade Liverpool to finally come to the table with a suitable offer for the midfielder.
