Chelsea transfer round-up: Havertz deal agreed, Inter and Conte eye Kante

[ad_1]

Chelsea have been one of the most involved Premier League sides in this summer’s transfer
market – signing five players so far.

Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr and Thiago Silva have all put pen-
to-paper on permanent deals at the Blues in time for the new season.

The Blues kick off their Premier League campaign in just over a weeks’ time, as they travel
to the Amex Stadium to face Brighton & Hove Albion.

It seems like Frank Lampard is well on his way to having some more fresh faces in his
squad before the trip down to the south coast.

Here are the very latest Chelsea-related transfer rumours.

Kai Havertz has long been linked with a Chelsea transfer

Blues and Bayer agree on Havertz deal

Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen have agreed a deal for the sale of Kai Havertz this summer,
Sky Germany are reporting.

The summer’s longest transfer saga is finally set to come to its conclusion, as the Blues
have agreed on a deal worth up to £89m for the 21-year-old German midfielder.

Chelsea are set to pay £72m up front for Havertz, with the other £17m being paid in
instalments, the report states.

The talented German is set to fly to London this weekend and complete his medical on
Saturday, should he be granted permission by the Germany national team.

Chelsea open Mendy talks

Chelsea are in talks with French side Rennes over their goalkeeper Edouard Mendy,
according to Sky Sports.

The Blues have subsequently ended their interest in Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan, the
report states, and are now after Mendy instead.

Lille wanted £32m for Maignan, which was over £10m higher than what Chelsea were willing
to pay for the 25-year-old.

Petr Cech, who is now the Blues’ technical director, has “strong links” with Rennes – helping
his side to open talks with the Ligue 1 club.

N’Golo Kante is an Inter Milan target

Inter line up Kante move

Inter Milan are lining up a move for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, but would need to
offload three players to fund any potential deal, according to Italian publication Calcio
Mercato.

Former Blues boss Antonio Conte is in charge at the San Siro, and wants a reunion with the
French midfielder – who he brought to Stamford Bridge in 2016.

The report states that Conte is looking to get rid of Joao Mario, Dalbert Henrique and Ivan
Perisic, so the club can secure the funds needed for the Frenchman.

The Italian manager has already signed five players from the Premier League since
becoming Inter boss last summer – with Romelu Lukaku, Christian Eriksen, Ashley Young,
Victor Moses and Alexis Sanchez all at the San Siro.

Reading in talks for Blues youngster

Championship side Reading are in talks with Chelsea over a move for highly-rated
youngster Ian Maatsen, according to Football Insider.

Maatsen was signed by the Blues in the summer of 2018 from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven –
paying £100k for his signature.

The report states that Chelsea are ready to loan out the 18-year-old, in order to get him
some valuable first-team experience.

Reading are keen to take the young full-back on loan in order to bolster their defensive
options ahead of next season.
