5 things noticed from Arsenal training as new signings involved for first time

[ad_1]

Arsenal’s new signing Willian linked up with his new team-mates for the first time as Mikel Arteta put his side through the paces on Friday.

The Brazilian has had time off since completing his move from Chelsea after being involved in European competition with the Blues after the Premier League finished.

He was not involved in Arsenal ’s Community Shield win but has now linked up with his team-mates for his first session at London Colney.

Mesut Ozil was also back with Arteta’s squad, although new signing Gabriel Magalhaes is yet to start training after recently completing his move from Lille.

Here’s five things we noticed from Arsenal’s latest session.

Willian looked focused in his first session with the Gunners

Keen to impress

Willian looked relaxed in his first session as he smiled alongside team-mates on his way to the pitch.

But once he got into action he looked fully focused and keen to impress.

Arteta is expected to deploy the Brazilian in a central role having mainly been used on the right during the later stages of his Chelsea career.

Arriving at the Emirates gives him an exciting new challenge and it is clear that he is already keen to impress.

Way back for Ozil?

Mesut Ozil’s days at Arsenal look numbered having not played a game for a number of months.

But he has made it clear he has no intentions to leave the club before his contract expires next summer.

With that in mind, could he find a way back into the fold?

Arsenal’s midfield options are limited, and Arteta says he has made it clear to Ozil what he must do to get himself back involved.

He was in training with the first-team again on Thursday and Friday and the logical best solution is for him to knuckle down and look to offer something to Arteta’s plans.

Saliba steps things up

Big things are expected of William Saliba this season – but he faces an adjustment period.

Mikel Arteta recently admitted the young defender will take some time to get up to speed.

With that in mind, these early sessions will be crucial.

He was pictured in training getting on the ball and looking to work on the pace of English football as he aims to make an instant impression in the Premier League.

Salah straight in

Arsenal recently confirmed the signing of their very own Salah – snapping up Feyenoord’s young prospect.

The 17-year-old Salah-Eddine was signed on a free transfer to join the Professional Development Phase.

But he has already been included in some first-team sessions as one of several young prospects involved.

The creative midfielder is hoping to carve out a bright future at the Emirates and will be looking to take his early chance to make a lasting impression on Unai Emery.

He will hope to make his mark and work his way into Arteta’s squad rotation ahead of a season with a gruelling schedule.
