Arturo Vidal aims dig at Barcelona board amid transfer chaos at club

[ad_1]

Arturo Vidal has aimed a sly dig at Barcelona’s board over their disappointing season by complaining about the size of their squad.

While the club’s official website lists 26 players in the first team, at least nine of those have spent some or all of last season out on loan.

The lack of depth has seemingly had a detrimental effect on Barcelona’s form, with much of the criticism levied at the experienced pro’s in the side, many of whom – including Vidal – are now fighting for their future.

But the Chilean midfielder has pointed the finger at the club’s hierarchy for failing to bolster the playing squad and release the burden on the club’s stars.

“The last three years are not what a team like Barcelona deserves,” Vidal told  Daniel Habif’s YouTube channel.

“The best team in the world cannot have 13 professional players. You cannot always win with DNA. Messi is the best in the world, an extraterrestrial, but he needs help so that better results can be achieved.”

Barcelona are now facing a big rebuild with a number of aging stars facing the axe while Lionel Messi attempts to force through a move.

Ivan Rakitic is on the verge of joining Sevilla, while Luis Suarez and Vidal are two of the other names being pushed towards the exit door.

And Vidal has taken particular umbrage with how the situation was being handled by those in charge.

“I have never understood placing the players with that word [transferable]. It is very ugly,” he said. “If a player wants to leave or you want to sell him, find him a team but don’t say so. It is to pass it on, and each person needs respect.”

The 33-year-old is now being touted to teams across Europe with a reunion with former boss Antonio Conte potentially on the cards at Inter Milan, while a return to Juventus has not been ruled out.

Vidal has made it clear he will not be signing for rivals Real Madrid though, because he says he has the “complete affection” of Barcelona fans, and will instead play the waiting game.

He added: “I am in a situation of being thrown away to see if someone wants to receive me.”
