Lionel Messi is prepared to leave Barcelona – and he is doing so with big ambitions.

After Barcelona ’s latest Champions League humiliation, Messi has communicated his desire to leave immediately with his next destination unknown.

It has been reported he spoke to Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola about his decision with more details of that chat coming to light.

According to Spanish pundit Cristobal Sorja, speaking on TV programme ‘El Chiringuito de Jugones’, Messi’s chat featured one “killer phrase” that he was keen to repeat.

It is claimed he told Guardiola (via Marca ): “I want to win the next two Ballon d’Or awards, and I can only do that with you”.

Sorja twice repeated the phrase, adding: “This is the killer phrase that Messi used”.

Four of Messi’s six Ballon d’Or wins came under the best spell of his career under Pep Guardiola.

Barcelona have gradually declined in recent years since Guardiola’s departure, whilst the Argentinian would be a welcome addition to Manchester City and their bid to finally achieve Champions League glory.

Paris Saint-Germain are also considered amongst the front-runners for Messi given his huge wages.

But Messi’s father is alleged to have told PSG that his son wants a move to Manchester City to reunite with Guardiola.

According to The Times, Man City’s chief executive Ferran Soriano is currently in Catalonia to discuss a move.

He is expected to meet Jorge Messi, who is his agent, when he returns from Argentina.

Messi, meanwhile, is expected to give his side of the story in the coming days and address his future after his burofax asking to leave the Nou Camp plunged the club into further crisis.
