Pakistan batsman Asif Ali faces disciplinary action as he nearly hit Keemo Paul with his bat, missing the West Indies all-rounder’s face by inches in a Carribean Premier League (CPL) 2020 match.
Asif Ali, who plays for the Jamaica Tallawahs in CPL 2020, was left furious after Guyana Amazon Warriors’ Keemo Paul gave him a verbal send-off. Ali, who has been impressive in the tournament, failed to get going for the Tallawahs on Tuesday as he got out for just 3.
Asif Ali skied a short ball from Keemo Paul which was expertly caught by Chris Green in the deep mid-wicket region. Tempers flared as Guyana were defending a low total of 108. Paul gave an animated send off to Asif who turned back and had an angry swish of his bat pointed towards the bowler. The bat missed Paul’s face but the West Indies bowler reacted to the incident by having another go at the batsman.
The match referee was spotted on camera wasting no time as he went for his notepad to make a note of the incident.

Despite Asif Ali falling for 3, Jamaica Tallawahs won the match comfortably, chasing 109 in just 188 overs. From 62 for 5, Andre Russell (23 from 20) and Nkrumah Bonner (30 from 32) made sure they crossed the finish line with ease.
Earlier in the day, Fidel Edwards and Mujeeb Ur Rahman broke the back of Guyana’s batting unit by picking up 3 wickets each. A late 20 from tail-ender Naveen-ul-Haq helped Guayana get past 100.
It was a much needed win for Jamaica as they moved to the 4th spot of the 6-team table with 4 points from as many matches.
