If a small glimpse of Chennai Super Kings’ training camp is anything to go by, expect MS Dhoni to be in full flow in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. The CSK captain, who retired from international cricket on August 15, was seen enjoying himself at the nets in Chennai before their departure to UAE.
After quite a few requests from fans, Chennai Super Kings on Friday shared a small clip of their training camp which was held in Chennai from August 15 to 20.
“The super camp sorely missed the super fans, thanks to COVID. But we managed to end it with a loud whistle!” CSK shared the clip on social media.
All eyes were on MS Dhoni as the CSK captain was swinging at will at the nets. Dhoni was drilling them down the ground as well hitting them into the stands at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Towards the end of the video, Suresh Raina can be seen cheering for Dhoni after the CSK captain steps down the wicket and hits one into the stands.

The short clip starts with Dhoni rolling his arm over while the likes of Piyush Chawla, Karn Sharma and Deepak Chahar are bowling. Suresh Raina can also be spotted, timing a few nicely.
Notably, Raina also followed Dhoni into international retirement as the two CSK stars announced their decisions in Instagram posts in a span of minutes when India was celebrating her 74th Independence Day.
MS Dhoni will be in the limelight in the UAE as fans will be keen on catching a glimpse of the World Cup-winning former captain in competitive action after more than a year.
In the lead up to the training camp, Raina had said Dhoni will be in good touch in the IPL and that his fans are sure to get entertained.
“I was there with him and he was practicing really hard (before the pandemic). Hopefully, you will see his helicopter shot soon. He’s been a great brand ambassador for IPL and such a great cricketer. You will see him in his best fighting spirit. He’s all pumped up and looking forward to going to UAE and entertain all his fans,” Raina said on the sidelines of a virtual promotional event.
Meanwhile, a batch of Chennai Super Kings players left for the UAE from Chennai on Friday. MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina were all spotted sporting big smiles as they were preparing to board the team bus en route to the airport.
Earlier in the day, CSK opener Shane Watson took to social media to share a glimpse of his live in isolation in the UAE. Watson has been given a hotel room in Dubai with a view of the Burj Khalifa as he became one of the first from the franchise to arrive in the UAE.
Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh will join the team in UAE a week later due to personal reasons while the likes of Faf du Plessis and Lungi Ngidi will land in the UAE in the first week of September. Dwayne Bravo, Imran Tahir and Mitchell Santner will head to the UAE after completing their Caribbean Premier League commitments as the tournament ends on September 10.
