On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, tribute is being paid to the martyrs across the country today, on the other hand stories are coming out of the box of memories. Know about the army officers who led the soldiers in the Kargil war, from the soldiers who had lost their lives and protected the land of India.

Capt. Vikram Batra
Batra is the one who hoisted the tricolor on Kargil’s Point 4875 and said, “This heart wants more.” Vikram was in the 13th Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. Vikram Tololing not only captured the bunker made by the Pakistanis but also directly confronted the Pakistani troops on 7 July 1999 to save his troops regardless of the bullets. Today that peak is known as Batra Top. The government honored him by giving him Param Vir Chakra.
Brigadier Khushal Singh
Khushal Thakur of Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh came into active politics after his retirement from the army. In the Kargil war, his and his battalion received the highest bravery honors when the enemies were rescued. There were 900 soldiers in the 18 Grenadiers headed by Brigadier Khushal Thakur. 34 soldiers were martyred under his command and the highest 52 gallantry awards were also received by his command. It included 1 Paramvir Chakra, 2 Mahavir Chakra, 6 Veerachakra and 18 Army Medals and other military honors. Brigadier Khushal Thakur himself has been honored with honors like Yudh Seva Medal.
Major Ajay Prasad,
when the Kargil war broke out, hundreds of brave soldiers laid down their lives to protect the country’s borders. The sons of Madhya Pradesh were also included in these brave soldiers. Major Ajay Prasad was one of the few soldiers who took on the enemy in the initial war of Kargil war. Since joining the army, he has fought with the LTTE in Sri Lanka. After succeeding there, he decimated the ULFA militants in Mizoram and then, in the Kargil war, was martyred by the Pakistani army.

Major Rajesh Adhikari
Major Rajesh Adhikari was married a year ago. In the evening a letter arrived from the house of Major Rajesh Adhikari near the battle area. But Major Rajesh Adhikari refused to read the letter, saying that I will deal with the enemies first and will read the letter in the morning. After staying in the war overnight, Major Rajesh Adhikari and his team captured Tololing but could not survive to read the letter. For the gallant work of Major Rajesh Singh Adhikari, the government honored him with the Gallantry Award Mahavir Chakra.
Soldier Krishna Kumar, a constable Krishna Kumar
of village Tarkanwali in Sirsa, Haryana, also laid down his life for the sake of the country. Jaisingh Bandar’s 25-year-old son Krishna Kumar Kargil was posted as a soldier in the Jat Regiment during the war. Krishna was the youngest of the four sons of farmer Jai Singh. From the very beginning, he had a passion for country service. He decided to leave the traditional agricultural work and join the army. This young man chose the army to serve the country and was admitted to the Jat Regiment about two years before martyrdom. Many brave martyrs like Krishna Kumar were killed in Kargil war.
Jairam Singh
the President of Jairam Singh, who had shown indomitable courage in the Kargil War, was honored by the President for his bravery, not only the family, but the entire Sikar district of Rajasthan. The same old scene comes in front of Jayaram’s eyes as he refers to Kargil war. He explains how he was informed about the infiltration of the enemy in Kargil on 25 April 1999. After that he went out with his company to take on the enemies. He was given the task of rescuing the Teloling hill, which was occupied by the Pakistani army, at an altitude of about 17 thousand feet.
Captain Vijayant Thapar,
posthumously awarded the Vir Chakra, hoisted the flag of victory on the hills of Tololing on 13 June 1999 before the martyrdom. This important victory proved to be a decisive battle in India’s favor during Kargil’s war. After the victory of Tololing, on 28 June, Captain Vijayant Thapar was entrusted with the responsibility of liberating the hill named Three-Pimps from the occupation of Pakistanis. In this battle fought in a very difficult situation, Captain Vijayant showed immense bravery against the enemies and became immortal by making supreme sacrifice for the country.

Air Chief Marshal Anil Yashwant Tipnis was Air Chief Marshal Anil Yashwant Tipnis during the
Kargil War. During the Kargil War, Tipnis, along with his team, led the Air Force efficiently. Tipnis and his force helped to create history by presenting their skills in carrying out the challenge of providing air support to the army from a height of 18 thousand feet.
In Captain Deepak Guleria
Kargil War, 52 Surmas from Himachal Pradesh gave their lives. Apart from Captain Vikram Batra, Sourav Kalia, many heroes made their supreme sacrifice. One of them was Captain Deepak Guleria from Sarkaghat in Mandi district of Himachal. He sacrificed his life at the age of just 29 years. He was also awarded the Gallantry Award for his sacrifice.
Captain Anuj Nayyar
was in the 17th Battalion of the Shaheed Anuj Jat Regiment. On July 7, 1999, he was martyred on Tiger Hill, souring the teeth of enemies. The gallantry of Captain Anuj was posthumously awarded the Mahavir Chakra.
Captain N Kangsu
The martyr was in the battalion of Kangursu Rajputana Rifles. He was martyred on the Lone Hills during the Kargil War on June 28, 1999, beating down enemies. The government awarded the Mahavir Chakra posthumously to this warrior who drove out the enemies on the battlefield.
Lieutenant Sheung Clifford Nongrum
Shaheed Nongrum was in the 12th Battalion of Jammu Kashmir Light Infantry. He received Virgati on 1 July 1999. He was martyred while occupying point 4812 during the Kargil War. Nongurm was awarded the Mahavir Chakra.
Major Padampani Acharya
was in the battalion of martyr Acharya Rajputana Rifles. On 28 June 1999, Veeragati was received by enemies at the Lone Hills. The government posthumously awarded Mahavir Chakra for his valor on Kargil Hill.
Colonel Sonam Wangchuk
Wangchuk was an officer in the Ladakh Scout Regiment. During the Kargil War, Wangchuk Corvat fought valiantly on the La Top, repelling the Pakistani army and returned when the war was over. He was later awarded the Mahavir Chakra.
Major Vivek Gupta
Shaheed Gupta was in the Second Battalion of Rajputana Rifles. On 12 June 1999, during the occupation of an important post in Dras sector, he attained Veeragati. Seeing his valor in the Kargil war, the government posthumously honored him with the Mahavir Chakra.
Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey
was in the First Battalion of the Shaheed Manoj Gorkha Rifles. He was the great hero of Operation Vijay. On June 11, he cut the teeth of the enemy in the Batalik sector. At the same time, under his leadership, Army contingent captured the Job Top and Khalubar Top. The day was July 3, 1999. Pandey waved the tricolor regardless of his injuries and was awarded the Paramveer Chakra.
Nayak Digendra Kumar
was in the Second Battalion of Shaheed Digendra Rajputana Rifles. The government was awarded Mahavir Chakra on 15 August 1999 for his indomitable courage in the Kargil war. They had returned alive.
Rifle man Sanjay Kumar
Shaheed Sanjay was in 13 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. He was the leader of the scout team and captured the flat top with his small contingent. He was a brave warrior and shot the enemy’s bullet on the chest. Even after being shot, he sourced the teeth of the enemies. He showed indomitable courage with a small detachment, after which Rifle Man Kumar was awarded the Paramveer Chakra. They had returned alive.
Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav
The martyr was Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav, who guided the Yogendra Commando Platoon. Who attacked the bunker by making a strategy on Tiger Hill with a circle. He used to make a rope path for his platoon. On July 4, the government awarded Paramveer Chakra to Yogendra for his indomitable courage during the Kargil war. They had returned alive.\
Havildar Dola Ram
Martyr of Kargil War Havildar Dola Ram was born on 17 January 1965 in village Shakroli in Nitthar area of Kullu district. After the tenth examination, he had a passion for country service from his student life. He was admitted to the First Parachuteer Regiment on August 5, 1985. On July 3, 1999, he attained heroism while fighting bravely till the last mother-in-law in an encounter in the Dras sector of Kargil. Dola Ram, who was involved in Operation Rakshak, sacrificed his life in Dras sector.
