Started in the era of Prophet Abraham
According to Islamic belief, 1 lakh 24 thousand Prophet (Messenger) came to the world. One of these was Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim. Bakrid started in these times.
This is the whole story
Islamic experts say that once Allah ordered Hazrat Ibrahim to sacrifice his most beloved thing in the dream. Hazrat Ibrahim was born to Aulad at the age of 80. In such a situation, his son Hazrat Ismail was the most beloved. It was a tough test for him to fulfill the command of Allah. On one side was the command of Allah and on the other side was the love of the son. In this case, they obeyed Allah and agreed to sacrifice the son for the sake of Allah.
Islamist Maulana Hameed Nomani explains that Hazrat Ibrahim felt that his love should not come in the way of giving a sacrifice to his son. So he blindfolded him. After this, when Hazrat Ibrahim fired a knife to cut the son of Ismail’s neck, a Dumba (an animal) was introduced in place of Ismail Alaihissalam by the command of Allah.
When Ibrahim Alaihissalam removed the blindfold, he found his son standing in front of him. Allah liked this idea of Hazrat Ibrahim so much that he made it right to sacrifice his honor status (whose financial condition is to buy a goat or other animal and sacrifice it).
Islamic religious leader Mufti Shamoon Qasmi says that the message that Allah gave to Hazrat Ibrahim was only trying them out. So that this message can be given that Muslims can sacrifice everything for the decree of Allah
