Jamia is going to add another success in Milia’s history. Three alumni here have been offered to become members of the Oscars.
3 alumni of Jamia Millia Islamia are going to play the role of judge for the Oscars. He has received an invitation from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science in America. The Academy has offered membership to more than 800 people in the film industry from 68 countries. The purpose of offering membership is to broaden the representation of all classes in the academy.
The academy is recognized worldwide for its annual Oscar ceremony. Among those who have been invited for the new membership are Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities as well as film professionals from India. In the documentary category, alumni of Jamia Millia, Nishtha Jain, Sherley Abraham and Amit Mahadesia have been proposed to become members of the academy. All three alumni of Jamia Millia have studied from AJK MASS Communication and Research Center.

Nishtha Jain’s journey to success
After studying at MASS Communication Research Center in Jamia Millia, Nishtha excelled in film direction from FTII Pune. After that, in professional life, he did many important work in the field of filmography. In the commendation of his work, Nishtha Jain has received 25 awards on national and international. Apart from this, he has also received many prestigious fellowships. In 2012, Gulabi Gang won the National Award for Best Film in the Social category of 2014. His film The Golden Thread has received the Chicken and Egg Award for 2020 on the problem of the jute textile industry. Jain was selected for the prestigious award among six female documentary filmmakers.

Sherley Abraham and Amit Mahadesia worked on several international series projects after studying at MASS Communication Center in 2006. His documentary Cinema Travelers was shown at the Cannes Film Festival. Apart from Cannes, his film has also garnered much acclaim at the Toronto, New York Film Festival. The film has received 19 awards including the President’s Gold Medal in India. Amit Mahadesia’s talent in photography has also been revealed. His 12-series series titled Night Screening of Traveling Cinema in India has received the World Press Photo Award in 2011.
