Central employees will be able to switch from NPS to old pension scheme

New Delhi. The Modi government has decided to provide an opportunity to central employees to choose the old pension scheme. It is being told that as per the decision of the Central Government, Central employees will be allowed to use the one-time switch option from NPS to old pension scheme to get the coverage of CCS Pension Rules 1972.

The benefit of the switch option will be given to those central government employees whose selection was finalized before January 1, 2004. But he did join after the due date. After the introduction of NPS, it is mandatory for all central government employees appointed on or after January 1, 2004 to be covered under NPS. The Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1972 and other related rules were also amended and were not applicable to government employees appointed in government service after 31 December 2003.

However, the government was requested to give the benefit of the pension scheme under the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1972 to government employees appointed on or after January 1, 2004 on the grounds that their appointment has been delayed for administrative reasons.
