Coronavirus / Railways ease refund rules, all money will be returned; Steps taken to reduce congestion at the station and reservation counter

new Delhi. Coronavirus outbreaks are increasing in India. So far, more than 296 cases of coronavirus have been reported in the country. Because of this people have been advised to stay at home. Also many trains have been canceled. This is the reason that people are reaching the railway station to get a large number of ticket refunds. In view of this, in order to facilitate railway passengers and reduce congestion at the station, rules have been relaxed for taking refunds on tickets issued from the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counter. The refund rules will apply to the travel period of March 21 to April 15, 2020. Explain that the rules of refund on e-ticket will remain the same as the refund goes online.

Rule-

  1. If the railway has not canceled the train, but the passenger does not want to travel, a ticket deposit receipt (TDR) has to be filed within 30 days from the date of journey. This TDR can be submitted to the CCO / CCM Claim Office. The passenger will be refunded within 60 days of filing the TDR. Refund will be given only after verification through train chart. The first refund was only for 10 days.
  2. If you have made a reservation for the journey between 21 March to 15 April and the railway has canceled your train. In such a case, refund can be taken from the counter by depositing the ticket within 45 days from the date of journey. Please tell that earlier this rule was only for three hours.
  3. If you cancel your ticket with the help of passenger telephone number 139, you can get the refund from any ticket counter in the country within 30 days from the day of travel.
  4. According to the advisory, passengers should avail of the services provided and avoid going to the station if there is not much required for a few days.

Food plaza and public food center will also remain closed

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the imposition of Janata curfew on 22 March. Due to this, no passenger trains will run from 12 pm on Saturday night to 10 pm on Sunday night. Mail and express trains will also stop at 4 am. Railways have already canceled 245 passenger trains to avoid unnecessary travel. On board catering service in mail and express trains has also been discontinued till further orders. On behalf of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC), it has been decided to close food plazas, mass feeding centers and cell kitchens operated by it to prevent infection.
