H-1B visa: Indian IT companies applications rejected on a large scale in the US

The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to appoint foreign workers for specialized occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise.

Detailed

According to a study by official data, the US has rejected an application for H-1B visas out of every fifth petition in 2019 for Indian IT companies like TCS and Infosys, compared to US companies. This has been a very high rate of visa application rejection in the US.

Loss to Indian companies

In the Indian IT companies like TCS and Infosys in 2019, the H-1B visa application refusal rates were 31 and 35 per cent respectively while for Wipro and Tech Mahindra it was 47 and 37 per cent. In contrast, the rate of rejecting this visa application for Amazon and Google was just four percent. It was six percent for Microsoft and just three percent for Facebook-Walmart.
