Holika Dahan Katha
According to the scriptures, the tradition of Holika Dahan is a unique feeling of connection between the devotee and God. According to the story, Asura Raj Hiranyakashyap ruled in India. His son Prahlada was an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu, but Hiranyakashyapu was a malevolent.
Hiranyakashipu had announced on earth that no one would worship the gods. Only he would be worshiped, but the devotee Prahlada did not obey his father and remained in devotion to God.
Hiranyakaship tried several times to get the son Prahlada killed, but he failed to succeed so he planned. Under this scheme he enlisted the help of sister Holika. Holika had a boon, she would not burn with fire.
As part of the plan, Holika sat in the fire with Prahlada in her lap, but God assisted the devotee Prahlada. Holika got burnt in this fire and devotee Prahlada came out of the fire safely. Since then Holika Dahan has a tradition. The Holika carries the message of burning all malice and sins.
Holashtak
According to Hindu Panchang, Holashtak will begin on the Ashtami date of Phalgun Shukla Paksha. This date falls on 03 March i.e. Holashtak starts from 03 March and ends on 09 March. According to religious beliefs, no manglic functions (marriage, marriage, buying a vehicle or buying a house, other Mars works) are performed during Holashtak. However, reciting the puja during this period and remembering the Lord and performing his hymns gives you auspicious results.
