New Delhi / Ahmedabad. US President Donald Trump, wife Melania, daughter Ivanka and his son-in-law Jared Kushner will arrive in Ahmedabad on February 24 at 11.40 am on a two-day tour. This is Trump’s first visit to India. Trump will first land in Ahmedabad. He will be here for about 230 minutes, will do a 22 km roadshow with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attend the Namaste Trump program at Motera Stadium. Trump is the 7th US President to visit India in the last 61 years. Barack Obama visited India twice.
After Ahmedabad, Trump will go to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. On February 25, Trump will have a formal reception at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Modi will have a formal meeting with the US President in Hyderabad. The two leaders will also issue a joint statement.
What will you do in ahmedabad
11:40 am: Will arrive at Ahmedabad airport, welcome with conch-drum-manjire. A 150-foot-long red carpet was laid for Trump-Melania. 19 artists will welcome. A thousand artists will perform traditional dances inside the airport. Trump will be given a guard of honor in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
11:50 pm: The 22 km long roadshow will begin. Tables from 28 states are decorated. The road show is named ‘India Road Show’. Trump will go to Gandhi Ashram from the airport.
12.20 pm: Trump will reach Gandhi Ashram. After visiting the ashram, we will stay on the banks of the Sabarmati river for some time. The Trump family will be welcomed with a string of threads at the ashram. After that the Trump couple will go to Hriday Kunj Vatika. Motera will leave the stadium after paying homage to Gandhiji.
1.05 pm: Trump and Modi will be in the stadium between 3 million people till 3 pm. Artists from several states including Nagaland, Assam will perform the song and music at the Motera Stadium. Kailash Kher will perform Sufi singing. After that Modi will give a welcome speech. He will talk on US-India relations. This will be followed by President Trump’s speech. Finally, Modi and Trump will circle the stadium in an open jeep.
3:30 pm: Trump-Melania will leave for Agra. He is scheduled to watch the Taj Mahal for half an hour. At 6:45 pm, Trump will fly to Delhi. Will reach Delhi at 7:30. He will then meet the President at 10 am on Tuesday.
Strong security arrangements
The Trump family will remain in a 5-tier security cordon. The entire responsibility for the internal security of the first family of America will be given to the American Secret Service and only Indian licensing officers will have access to them. In the second round, 25000 personnel of Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi Police will be responsible for NSG, Chetak Commandos, Para Military Force and finally external security and maintenance. Trump will spend around 1.5 crore on hourly security and Rs 100 crore on 36 hours of travel.
Strict protocol
US intelligence agents do not even share the president’s symbolic call sign, following strict protocols. Officers will handle the nuances of traffic through a parallel and secure wireless system. These calls will be shared at the last minute from the officers and employees deployed in sign security. Wherever the convoy will pass, its powerful jammers will switch off all types of mobile and wireless signals from the surroundings for some time.
Trump heads to Ahmedabad in 6 years
Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Ahmedabad in September 2014. At that time, pictures of Modi and Jinping swinging on the same swing on the riverfront were in the news.
In September 2017, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived in Ahmedabad on a 2-day visit, including his wife Akai. Also did an 8 km long roadshow with Modi.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Ahmedabad in January 2018. He also did a road show with Modi from Ahmedabad Airport to Sabarmati Ashram.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau arrived in Ahmedabad in February 2018 with a wife and three children. Prime Minister Modi was not with him during this time. He was formally welcomed by Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 23 February.
