Arcades on Inner Child and working with ‘incredible’ : BTS star V ‘It’s an intimate but anthemic stadium moment’
BTS star V’s solo song on their new album Map Of The Soul: 7 is ‘perfect for a stadium’, according to producers Arcades.
The duo, Matt Thomson and Max Graham, have worked their magic once more on the new BTS album, teaming up with singer V on the track Inner Child.
Previously, they produced Map Of The Soul: Persona numbers Mikrokosmos and Jamais Vu, and wanted to keep a similar vibe with their latest work.
‘It’s perfect for a stadium like Mikrokosmos,’ Matt told Metro.co.uk.
‘When we wrote those songs with the boys, one thing that is always spoken about is that they will be performed in a big massive stadium. You always have that in the back of your head when you’re working with them.
‘It has more similarities to Mikrokosmos than Jamais Vu.’
Max said: ‘We keep the intimacy of an acoustic guitar type track but them have that anthemic stadium moment,’ adding that seeing the group close out their shows with Mikrokosmos ‘brings a tear to the eye’.
Matt and Max are given a lot of free reign by BTS’ agency Big Hit Entertainment so they can put their own stamp on each song, sometimes even offering up music totally opposite to the original idea. Thankfully.
‘It depends on the day, we just go for whatever we’re feeling and we don’t tend to stick to a brief’, said Max, ‘they don’t ask us specifically for anything.
‘Some of the stuff they’ve asked for we’ve gone completely off brief. Inner Child came about that way.’
While they are total whizzes with productions, guitars and melodies, Matt confessed that they leave the rap sections to BTS’ incredibly skilled rapline RM, Suga and j-hope; and their long time collaborator Pdogg.
‘I’m from Scotland. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard someone from Scotland trying to rap but it’s not good,’ Matt joked.
‘We’re slowly getting on the map, but I’m certainly not gonna put anyone on it!’
