Four 5-star hotels receive bomb threats on e-mail; sender claims to be from LeT

Mumbai: Four five-star hotels in Mumbai have received a bomb threat over e-mail. The sender of the email claims to be from the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The police are investigating the matter.

The four star-rated hotels which received the threats include Hotel Leela, Hotel Princess, Hotel Park and Hotel Ramada Inn. The properties were thoroughly checked but nothing was found during the search.

The anti-terrorism squad (ATS) and crime branch officials conducted parallel inquiries. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) were deployed at the premises of the hotel.   

The security was beefed up at the hotels after the threat was received.

“After the police were told about the threat mails, security was beefed up at these hotels. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) checked the hotels, but nothing suspicious was found in them,” a police official told PTI.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operation) Pranay Ashok said, “The anti-sabotage check of these hotels was conducted in the presence of the local police. But nothing suspicious was found there”.  

The subject of the email read ‘Lakshar-e-Taiba wants the management of your hotel’ and the sender demanded bitcoin in ransom.
