2 killed, 11 injured in firecrackers explosion during religious procession in Punjab
PUNJAB : A firecracker trolley exploded during a religious event in Tarn Taran on Saturday. In this incident, 2 people died and 11 people were injured. The accident occurred on Saturday afternoon when the devotees involved in the city kirtan were going to Tahala, the birthplace of Baba Deep Singh. In this event, firecrackers were kept in trolleys for fireworks only. Tarn Taran SSP had earlier reported the death of more than 10 people in this incident, but now the IG of Amritsar Range, while correcting, said that 2 people were killed.
Amrinder Border Range IG Sarinder Pal Singh Parmar said – 2 people have died and 11 have been injured in this accident. Tarn Taran’s SSP had given the figures of the dead, given by eyewitnesses. Earlier, Tarn Taran SSP Dhruv Dahiya had said – Fireworks were being done during the Nagar Kirtan. Meanwhile, the tractor-trolley exploded. According to eyewitnesses, 14-15 people died on the spot in it. 3 seriously injured people have been admitted to the hospital.
Tarn Taran is close to the border of Pakistan
Sources in the police said that the investigation into why the blast occurred is on. Tarn Taran is adjacent to the border of Pakistan, in such a situation, the possibility of a terrorist incident can not be ruled out. The incident is also being investigated on this basis.
