Facility: The process of online PAN allotment from Aadhaar details will begin this month

  • Applicants will have to enter the Aadhaar number on the website of the Income Tax Department.
  • Detail of Aadhaar through OTP will be verified and PAN will be allotted.

NEW DELHI: The facility of issuing online PAN immediately from Aadhaar details will start this month. Revenue Secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey gave this information on Thursday. However, he did not state a date. But, said the system is getting ready. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the scheme in the budget on February 1.

Applications will be able to download e-PAN

Mr. Pandey said that applicants have to enter the Aadhaar number on the Income Tax Department website. After this, OTP will come on the registered mobile number. Once the Aadhaar is verified through OTP, PAN will be allotted immediately. Applicants will be able to download the e-PAN. This will eliminate the problems of filling the PAN application form and submitting it to the Income Tax Department. The Income Tax Department will also get rid of the process of sending the PAN card by post to the applicant’s house.

30.75 crore people have linked PAN-Aadhaar

The government has made it mandatory to link PAN to Aadhaar. Its deadline is 31 March. 30.75 crore people have linked PAN number to Aadhaar. As of January 27, according to data, 17.58 crore people are yet to be linked with the PAN number.
