Washington / New Delhi. India slipped 10 places to 51st position in Democracy Idnx. India’s democracy score in 2019 was 6.9, the lowest level in 13 years. The Economist released a democracy list of 165 countries on Tuesday. According to this report, India’s Democracy score declined due to the removal of Article 370 from Kashmir and the enactment of the Citizenship Amendment Act.

The Economist began issuing the Democracy Index in 2006. This is India’s lowest democracy score in 13 years since then. It was the highest in 2014 at 7.92.
