Weather / Shivpuri and Betul coldest city in the plains of the country, mercury reached four degrees

Shivpuri and Betul cities of Madhya Pradesh were the coldest in the plains of the country today. Which is the lowest in the plains of the country. The night temperature here is recorded at 4 degrees Celsius. Both these cities have been in the grip of cold wave since yesterday. All trains coming from Delhi are running for two to five hours due to the dense fog in Gwalior-Chambal division. 

Senior Scientist PK Saha of Meteorological Center, Bhopal said that heavy cold weather is going on in Shivpuri and Betul cities of the state today. Both these cities are in the grip of cold wave since 5 January. The night temperature in Betul was 4 degrees, which is 5.8 degrees below normal. Similarly, the minimum temperature in Shivpuri also remained 4 degrees, which is 3.1 degrees below normal. The temperature is below 10 degrees in about 30 districts of the state. Night’s mercury remained below ten degrees at 70 to 80 percent of the places in the state. 


There was slight fog in the capital Bhopal in the morning but it was sunny when the sunrise. People got some relief from the cold with lukewarm sunlight throughout the day. The minimum temperature has increased by 2.1 degree as compared to yesterday, today to 9.3 degree Celsius, which is one degree higher than normal. There will not be much change in the temperature of Bhopal in the next 24 hours. Can remain below one-half degree.

According to the Meteorological Department, a fresh Western Disturbance is getting prepared, due to which it is expected to rain thunderstorms in many places including Bhopal, Gwalior on January 9 and 10, and there may be hailstorms especially in eastern Madhya Pradesh. This time the speed of rainfall can also be more. With this, an induced cyclonic circulation (Induced Cyclonic Circulation) is forming in the upper winds of western Rajasthan in the next two days which may further encourage western disturbance.

Minimum temperature: 4.2 degree in Pachmarhi, 5.5 in Raisen, 6.2 in Umaria and Khargone, Chhindwara 7, Rewa 7.4, Damoh 7.5, Malajkhand 7.5, Ratlam 7.6, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur and 8 in Sidhi, 8.1 in Gwalior and Datia, Nagaon 8.2, Minimum temperatures were recorded at 8.4, Guna 8.6, Satna 8.7, Ujjain 9, Shajapur 9.2, Bhopal 9.3 and Khandwa 9.4 degrees in Seoni, Rajgarh and Tikamgarh.

Maximum temperature: Bhopal 24.3, Indore 26.6, Jabalpur 23.9, Gwalior 24.6 degrees.
