Golden Globes 2020: Complete List Of Winners

Golden Globes 2020 kick-started with a “bang”, just like five-time Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais said, and ended with one too. After star-studded red carpet moments, the awards were announced inside the Beverly Hilton ballroom in California and garnered the loudest cheers when war drama 1917 won Best Film (Drama) while Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time In Hollywood turned out to be a favourite with three wins out of five nominations. 1917 also fetched the Best Director Award for Sam Mendes. Renee Zellweger won the Best Actress (Drama) Golden Globe for playing the titular role in Judy, a biopic on American actress-singer Judy Garland. Joaquin Phoenix won the Best Actor (Drama) Golden Globe for his critically acclaimed performance in Todd Phillip’s Joker.

Once Upon a Time In Hollywood won Best Film (Musical/Comedy). The Best Actor (Musical/Comedy) segment saw Taron Egerton win for Rocketman while Awkwafina won Best Actress in the same category for The Farewell.

Laura Dern won Best Supporting Actress In Any Motion Picture award for Marriage Story while Brad Pitt won Best Supporting Actor In Any Motion Picture for his performance in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

In the television sector, Hotstar’s intense drama Chernobyl won Best Miniseries or TV Film. Succession won Best TV Series (Drama), also fetching in Best Actor for the same for Brian Cox. Fleabag turned out to be the Best TV Series (Musical/Comedy) with Phoebe Waller-Bridge winning Best Actress for the same. Olivia Colman won Best Actress TV Series (Drama) for The Crown.

Actor-comedian Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globes for the fifth time. The 77th edition of the Golden Globes also honoured celebrated actor Tom Hanks with the prestigious Cecil B. deMille Award. Show host-comedian Ellen DeGeneres received the Carol Burnett Award.
