Najeeb Jung in Jamia – Change in CAA, Muslims should also be added

Demonstrations are going on outside the Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). On Monday, former Lt. Governor of Delhi (LG) Najeeb Jung also reached here and addressed the protesters. Najeeb Jung, who was the Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia University, said that the government should change the CAA. Muslims should also be added to this.

Former LG Najeeb Jung said that I think CAA needs improvement. The government should either include Muslims in it or remove those other religions. The matter will end after the inclusion of Muslims.

Najeeb Jung said, this matter (CAA) should be discussed only then a solution will be found out. How will we solve the problem when we do not even talk? How long will this protest go on? The economy is suffering, shops are closed, buses are unable to run and huge losses are being made.

Bureaucrats wrote letters

A few days ago 106 former bureaucrats across the country raised questions about the CAA. These bureaucrats wrote letters to the government and questioned the validity of the law. The letter stated that the National Population Register (NPR), Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Citizen Register (NRC) are not required. This is a futile exercise. The letter said that people will be troubled by these laws.

Among these former 106 bureaucrats, former Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung, then Cabinet Secretary K.K. M. Chandrasekhar and former Chief Information Commissioner Wajahat Habibullah. These people urged the people to insist on the Central Government to repeal the relevant sections of the Citizenship Act 1955 relating to the National Identity Card.
