Lawyer Aparna Bhatt has filed a contempt petition against the makers of the film ‘Chhapak’ and actress Deepika Padukone in the Delhi High Court for not giving them due credit despite the court order. The petition has sought initiation of contempt proceedings against the filmmakers for not complying with the High Court order for giving due credit to lawyer Aparna Bhatt for his contribution in the production of the film.
Aparna Bhatt represented Laxmi Aggarwal, the victim of acid attack, on whose life this film is made. Aparna Bhatt told IANS over phone, “I have filed this petition, because the producers have not included the credit in the copy of the film which is being shown internationally.” However, he also said that he has been given due credit in the film being shown in India.
Earlier, Laxmi Aggarwal’s lawyer Aparna Bhatt had filed a petition in the court even before the release of the film. After this, Delhi High Court had stayed the release of ‘Chhapak’ without giving credit to lawyer Aparna Bhatt. After which he was given credit in the film. The film ‘Chhapak’, directed by Meghna Gulzar, is released in theaters on 10 January. However, this film has not received good response from the audience in theaters.
