Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has hailed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the impact he has had on his game since he has been at the club.
Nketiah spent the first half of last season on loan at Leeds United but returned in January, making a number of appearances in the Premier League and FA Cup.
There were rumours he could move on this summer, but manager Mikel Arteta has kept faith with the youngster, and was rewarded for giving him his first start of the season when he scored the winner in Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over West Ham at the weekend.
Speaking after the game, Nketiah said he had Aubameyang to thank for guiding him and giving him advice on how to become a top forward.
“Auba’s a great player and I’ve had the privilege of playing alongside him for a little while now,” he told the Evening Standard. “He’s a top striker and that’s where I want to be in the future.
“Whenever we’re training or working on little things, I’m always asking him about how he does it, how he prepares and whether he has any little tips
“Some of the variety in his finishing is just outstanding and what’s even better is that he is always willing to help other people out — he’s great to have around.
“He’s one of the best about and I’m always looking to learn from him.”
It remains to be seen if Nketiah is back in the starting line-up for either the Carabao Cup game against Leicester on Wednesday or the huge Premier League game away to Liverpool on Monday next week.
The Gunners will be looking to continue their fine recent form under Arteta, with the team having not lost since their 2-1 defeat to Brighton in June.
