Arsenal transfer round-up: Houssem Aouar latest as defender linked with exit
[ad_1]
Mikel Arteta has secured a host of key targets this summer, with Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba and Willian all arriving at the Emirates Stadium.
However, the Spaniard is not finished yet, and the Gunners are expected to make more signings before the end of the transfer window.
Alongside one or two exciting arrivals, Arteta is also aiming to offload some squad players to raise funds for incoming players.
We look at the big rumours doing the rounds at the Emirates Stadium ahead of the October 5 deadline.
Lyon chief: No bids for Houssem Aouar
Lyon sporting director Juninho has confirmed the Ligue 1 club have received no formal offers for highly-rated midfielder Houssem Aouar.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the French U21 international following his starring role in Lyon’s run to the Champions League semi-finals in August.
However, Juninho’s comments appear to confirm what Arsenal fans have feared, with the Gunners reportedly unable to afford Lyon’s £55million asking price.
A report from Metro claims Lyon will not budge on their valuation of the 22-year-old, with Arsenal likely to have to sell players before they can begin negotiations.
Juninho also confirmed Arsenal had indicated they would be willing to swap Matteo Guendouzi for Aouar – however, he said the former Lorient star does not fit the right profile for the club.
Leverkusen linked with Kolasinac swoop
Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly eyeing Arsenal star Sead Kolasinac to improve their defensive options in 2020/21.
Peter Bosz’s side have already generated more than £100m following the sales of Kai Havertz and Kevin Volland earlier this summer.
According to Bild, via Sports Witness, Bosz has highlighted Kolasinac as an ideal candidate to cover at full-back and centre-back as part of a €10m (£9m) deal.
The Bosnian international is rumoured to be keen on returning to Germany due to personal reasons, and Arteta would be willing to sell, with Kieran Tierney, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Bukayo Saka and Cedric Soares ahead of him in the pecking order.
The 27-year-old was used as a regular left-back option under Arsene Wenger and Unai Emery in his first two seasons at the Emirates Stadium, but his role was reduced following Arteta’s arrival in December 2019, with just seven Premier League starts under the Spaniard.

Arsenal could move for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya as a replacement for the departed Emiliano Martinez.
Martinez completed a £20m move to Aston Villa after Mikel Arteta opted to cash in on the Uruguayan international.
The Gunners are now rumoured to be eyeing Raya as Bernd Leno’s new deputy, with reports from The Athletic, via The Independent, claiming Arteta will push ahead with an offer before the closure of the transfer window.
Raya is a key figure for the Championship side, and the Bees want to keep hold of him ahead of the 2020/21 season – so Arsenal may allow him to return to Griffin Park on a season-long loan as part of a potential deal.
