Werner sends warning to Liverpool and acknowledges game means more than most

Timo Werner has acknowledged Chelsea’s clash with Liverpool means more than most games – by insisting he will not miss out due to injury.
Werner suffered a knock as he won the penalty for Chelsea’s opening goal in a 3-1 win over Brighton on Monday night.
He was able to continue but had ice wrapped around his leg after the game as he was interviewed by Sky Sports.
When asked if he would be fit to face Liverpool, the side he almost joined before heading to Stamford Bridge, he showed that a game against the Reds is clearly one he will not miss.
“Of course,” he replied.
“Games like this you are always fit.”
Werner’s determination not to miss out against Liverpool comes as he aims to prove his worth against top level opposition.
And he has warned the Reds he feels capable of creating plenty of chances in the Premier League – and that their new-look side will have plenty more to offer than they showed against Brighton.
Werner told Sky Sports: “Premier League is different football.
“Defenders, I never played against three defenders like this. So tall, such big, massive defenders.

Liverpool got their title defence off to a shaky start as they edged out a seven-goal thriller against Leeds.

“But the game, for me, it was really fun because especially in the first half I had a lot of space where I could do my runs.
“I think the last part we missed today but for me and also the rest of the team I think we’ll get a lot of chances we can create in the Premier League and I’m happy to be here.
“I think we can do much better than we did today.
“At the end we won the game and lots of players in our team haven’t played any games this season.
“We are maybe not as strong as we could be, but in the next few weeks we will get very fit and very confident when we win games like we did with this one today.
“I think we’ll get a very strong team this season.”
