Kate Garraway welcomed back to Smooth studio with open arms and thoughtful gifts

Kate Garraway was welcomed back to Smooth radio with open arms and a lot of thoughtful presents to get her through the show.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 53, returned back to her radio slot this morning in a colourful two-piece suit as her husband Derek Draper continues to slowly recover from his coronavirus illness.

Taking to Instagram, Kate couldn’t help but share the sweet gifts she was showered with after stepping foot inside the studio.

In a sweet video shared with her 942k followers, Kate donned a striking salmon co-ord which did wonders to showcase her amazing figure.

In the clip, she can be heard saying: “It’s so lovely to be back, hello! I’m on Smooth radio.

“My first show today, and I’m absolutely loving it. Thank you so much for all your messages while I’ve been gone.

“Look what the gang at Smooth have done – I’ve got chocolates, I’ve got flowers, I’ve got party rings. They know what I need to get through a show, don’t they?

“Honestly thank you so much for everything, it’s brilliant to be back, and I can’t wait to play you lots of lovely music.”

Sharing the video on Instagram, she wrote: “Back on @smoothradio! Missed you – thanks so much for all your lovely messages, hope you are loving the great songs!”

It’s been an incredibly tough few months for Kate as her beloved husband Derek Draper continues to recover from Covid-19, which he contracted earlier this year.

Derek, 53, still remains in hospital but has awoken from his coma and is recovering from the extensive damage the virus has done.

The pair recently celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary, but sadly, Kate was unable to go see her sick husband on their special day.

Kate was left Good Morning Britain viewers heartbroken when she told hosts Susanna Reid and Adil Ray: “It’s actually Derek and I’s wedding anniversary today, unbelievably.

“15 years today – Richard and Hilary were there on the day, I think. But yeah, what an extraordinary thing.”

She added: “I won’t be able to see him today. I kind of hoped he would but it hasn’t worked out that way for the visits. But maybe it would be a bit strange anyway.

“So yeah, it’s a tough day but he’s still here. There’s not a huge amount that’s changed.”

The TV star recently revealed that she would be taking some time out to help son Billy and daughter Darcey return to school.
