Kelly Clarkson explains why she can’t be ‘truly open’ about ‘certain aspects’ of her divorce from Brandon Blackstock
Kelly Clarkson won’t discuss her divorce for the sake of her children.
The Piece by Piece hitmaker split from her husband, Brandon Blackstock, in June after nearly seven years of marriage, and has said that whilst she’s an ‘open person’, she isn’t willing to discuss her breakup as it involves the couple’s two young children – six-year-old River Rose and four-year-old Remington Alexander.
She said: ‘I am a very open person, but I’m not going to be able to be truly open about this in certain aspects because there’s kids involved.’

The Kelly Clarkson Show host thinks she will eventually talk about her divorce in the future, but in a ‘natural way’ during conversation, rather than a ‘planned’ discussion.
She added: ‘I think that I will navigate a way in which to be open and honest about it eventually, probably via the show, and it’ll probably, I’m assuming, happen organically when someone says something in conversation or something.
‘It definitely wouldn’t be planned.’
But for now, the 38-year-old singer wants to respect the privacy of Brandon, 43, their kids, and his two teenage children – Savannah and Seth – from a previous marriage.

Priority: Kelly is mom to six-year-old River Rose and four-year-old Remington Alexander
She explained during an interview with the Los Angeles Times: ‘But my children and his older children – there are a lot of little hearts involved in this and while people feel, ‘Oh my gosh, what a loss …’ imagine how it is in the epicentre of the storm.
‘It’s a lot to process and deal with, just as a family. So because it’s not just me, I probably won’t go too deep with it.’
Meanwhile, it was previously claimed Kelly is keen to make her children a priority amid her divorce, as well as keeping communication open between herself and her former step-kids.
An insider said: ‘She had to work through a lot of hurt from her childhood. Her priority is making sure her children grow up in a stable, loving environment.
‘She’s always thought of Seth and Savannah as her own too, and she has a special relationship with both of them. Kelly wants to remain close with her step-kids.’
