Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick admits Thiago’s decision “has been made” ahead of a protracted move to Liverpool.

The Spaniard signalled his desire to quit the European Champions several months ago with his contract winding down.

Liverpool have been the club most regularly linked with the midfielder and discussions have been held.

But the drawn out nature of the transfer has led to suggestions it may not materilise.

Flick though believes the Champions League Final was Thiago’s final outing in a Bayern shirt and doesn’t envisage him performing a u-turn.

Thiago is looking to take on a new challenge

He said: “I assume that he will leave us. I think his decision has been made.“

Bayern have just won the treble following a terrific season at the Allianz Arena but even that is not enough to convince Thiago to stay put.

Club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admitted at the weekend that an offer was due this week from a potential suitor.

He told Welt Am Sonntag : “We are expecting an offer from another club in the next few days.

“He told us that at the end of his career, he would like to try something new.”

Hansi Flick expects the midfielder to move on

Liverpool, who are expected to be Thiago’s next club, are known for being shrewd in the transfer market however.

The Reds hierarchy and Jurgen Klopp have built a dominant side with a relatively low net spend as they negotiate the market well.

Bayern are thought to want around £30m for a player who made 40 appearances in all competitions.

Liverpool are trying to drive the price down but speculation persists that some of their Premier League rivals are keeping tabs on the situation.

The Merseyside outfit chose not to add any big names last summer which paid dividends as they won the top flight.

This summer though they are expected to be far more active and may welcome one or two stellar names to Anfield.
