AAP suspended former MLA Jarnail Singh, posted controversial posts on Facebook about Hindu goddesses

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has suspended one of its former MLAs from the primary membership of the party for hurting religious sentiments. The party, while acting on the issue of Facebook post of former MLA Jarnail Singh from Rajouri Garden in Delhi, suspended him. Offensive remarks were made about the Hindu goddesses from Jarnail Singh’s official Facebook account, after which the party took this step on Wednesday 12 August.

Action taken in PAC

In a statement issued by AAP, it was said that it was decided to take this action against Jarnail Singh in the meeting of the party’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC). The party cited the use of derogatory words against Hindu goddesses as a reason for action against Jarnail.

In a report published on the Indian Express on this issue, the party MLA from Tilak Nagar, Delhi, Jarnail Singh was quoted as saying, “Aam Aadmi Party is a secular party and there is no place for anyone who insults any religion. do.”

According to the same report, Jarnail, while presenting his explanation on this post, said that his younger son had made this controversial comment using his phone. According to Jarnail, his younger son was using the phone for online class and during this time he posted this. Jarnail said that he respects all the gods.

Was first time MLA in 2015

Jarnail first came into the limelight when, as a newspaper journalist, he threw a shoe at the then Home Minister P Chidambaram in 2009 on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots issue. After this, he joined the party at the time of the formation of the AAP and entered the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. However, he had to face defeat.

After this, he contested from Rajouri Garden in the 2015 assembly elections and was one of the AAP’s 67 MLAs. However, for the 2017 Punjab elections, the party fielded him against Akali Dal chief Parkash Singh Badal but he had to face defeat there.
