Rahul Dravid Gets Emotional As Stand Named After Him At M Chinnaswamy Stadium
Former India cricket captain Rahul Dravid expressed his gratitude and emotion after a stand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium was named in his honour by the Karnataka State Cricket Association. The move comes as the iconic stadium celebrates 50 years of hosting international cricket.
Legends Honoured
Alongside Dravid, KSCA also named stands for:
- Anil Kumble, former India captain and one of the country’s most successful bowlers
- Shantha Rangaswamy, a pioneer of women’s cricket in India
Dravid said the stadium felt like a “second home” and recalled watching cricket there as a child with his father.
Gratitude And Excitement
Speaking at the ceremony, Dravid said:
“It’s a great honour. This place has given me so much happiness and shaped my cricketing journey. I am excited that top-level cricket is returning here.”
The event coincides with preparations for Indian Premier League (IPL) matches and other international fixtures to return to Chinnaswamy following safety reviews and updated protocols.
