Faridabad: Candy Baba alias Rajesh, who cheated people for about Rs 100 crore by selling them cheap gold, sending them abroad and doubling their money, has finally been arrested by the Crime Branch of Haryana Police from Faridabad. Currently, he has been sent to police custody.
Absconding since 2018
Police said that Rajesh alias Candy Baba was absconding since 2018. He was arrested by Faridabad Sector-30 police late on Monday night. On Tuesday, he was produced in a local court, who gave this thug in police custody for 10 days.
Police said that Kandy Baba alias Rajesh is originally from Sharifgarh in Kurukshetra. In the beginning, he pretended to be Baba and adopted the name of ‘Candy Baba’ while distributing candy to his devotees.
He told that in addition to Faridabad, he has cheated people in many other districts as well. It used to trick everyone into selling cheap gold to people, sending them abroad and doubling the rupee. When people started suspecting him in 2018, he escaped.
More than 30 cases registered
CIA in-charge Surendra Singh said, “The accused has cheated people of about 100 crores. He was absconding since 2018. Apart from Faridabad, there are about 30 cases registered against him in many districts of the state. ”He said that the police is currently questioning him.
